Wed, March 9, 2005 - 10:48 AMI went to st mary's college double majored in classics and philosphy and then went for one semester at san fran state for a MA in classics. NOw i teach high school and am getting a MA in education.
I like aristotles simplicity +)

Wed, March 9, 2005 - 1:34 PMI'm a fan of logic & humanities, studied ethics at various colleges (no degree), and Aristotle was the first guy I studied who had a cogent idea of how virtues could be put on a spectrum, and shown to be bad in degrees, and good in others, and how some virtues must submit to others for the greater good.
I'm trying to go through the Great Books of the Western World, as part of my non-trad education. Aristotle is a few great ones away for me right now...

Read Aristotle as a kid, then in college, then as a screenwriter. SO COOL. Did Arista Story Development Workshop in Italy, Arista base their program on Aristotle. Poetics, got the Hackett translation packed with notes. Just got back from Italy, visited theatre in Syracuse where |Aexchulus first performed some plays in 5th c bc. WOW. Have we learned nothing new??????
But it is good, by checking out the past we can better create the future. -
